Want volumised lashes? 5 mascaras from save to splurge

We are drawn to people’s eyes. They frame the face. They’re bold. Alluring. Hypnotising. It’s human instinct.

Or is it just me who thinks that?

They’re the first thing I notice when I look at someone, even more so when they’re sporting a mascara that makes their eyes pop. I’m a fan of volumized (and lengthened) lashes, so here are my top 5 picks of the ones I’ve recently used or been a fan of for years. From budget to big, there’s something for everyone.

Also, it’s just in time for the party season, so might make a great gift for the party season.

Budget

Maybelline Lash Sensational £9.99 (but always on some kind of offer in most places)

This remains my ultimate winner and is probably my favourite mascara as I keep coming back to it as it doesn’t let me down. It’s a budget-friendly way of getting big, bold, volumized and beautiful lashes, that doesn’t smudge on the top or bottom. It lasts pretty much all day when I work in London, only just smudging when I get home from the train 6am to 10pm – if that!

Beauty Pie Uber Volume Boost (similar to Chanel Le Volume) £10 (£28 without membership)

I got it earlier this year in my Beauty Pie haul and have finally got round to properly using it. It’s perfect! No faults and it lasts all day. I haven’t come across panda eyes yet, unless it’s super late in the day. Nor have I seen smudging on my lower lashes.

Kiko Green Me Volume £12.99 (Sold out 😦 but here’s the lengthening alternative)

It ticks a lot of boxes, where 40% of its packaging is made from post-consumer waste and 99% of its ingredients are derived from natural raw materials. It’s super volumizing and stays on for most of the day, although I refrain from putting it on my bottom lashes as it heads into panda-eye territory quicker.

Go Big

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes £25

Charlotte Tilbury mascaras how come a long way since their first Legendary Lashes which would smudge at the first opportunity. This one is gorgeous and a treat for the eyes. The makeup artist used this on me at my makeover when I went to their Covent Garden boutique, although if you have extra long lashes like me, be sure to check below your brows for possible smudging

MAC Stack £26 (get a 2 pack at Boots for the same price!)

I wore this in Naples. It lasts pretty much all day, but won’t lie, it’s not the best at waterproof! I only started to get panda eyes as I approached taking my makeup off at the end of the day – not bad for battling the elements during the day.
