#LizzieVisits

Last month, I had the chance to finally redeem my Christmas gift from my boyfriend, where we went to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire! 🍸
Despite Covid, we were so fortunate that the sun was shining, therefore making it an even more cherish-able, amazing experience ☀️
It was different yet brilliant experience compared to the usual day out, as this was very unique – I really didn’t know what to expect! We opted for the Discovery Experience which lasted about 2 hours.
I’m not a massive drinker; it’s so rare. But when I do, it’s gin.

The tour started off by looking at the glasshouse to contribute to the distillery process based in the adjoining building. It was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, who also designed the London 2012 Olympic Games cauldron – honestly, the Opening Ceremony is one of the best things I have EVER seen. Google his creations – you’ll see what I mean!

Plants aren’t really my thing, but I did learn almonds can take months to grow, all encased in a furry shell!

We were taken to the Botanical Dry Room, where I was enthralled by all the different ingredients, herbs and spices included in Bombay’s recipe. We sniffed various disks which helped us find out our flavour preferences with a cocktail menu recommending drinks best suited to our tastes. I was a blend of citrus and floral, but in the end opted for a Rosé spritz … WOW.

The tour included our complimentary gin at the end, but unfortunately Covid limited us to only stick with the one where we couldn’t enjoy the beautiful bar inside. We were also on the last tour, so we felt a bit rushed at the end, as it is usually open until much later than 8pm. We did, however, get some goodies from the gift shop including their very new ‘Sunset’ edition, a jewel stirrer, mini gin kit, a can of their bramble gin and measuring cup.

It was perfect day which I continue to look back on with a smile. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did! Cheers! 🍹
