Don’t forget my 2026 Fiction Longlist reaction…
Which books have I read from the longlist so far?
Wild Dark Shore – I’ve seen mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it! I can best describe it as a literary thriller set on an island north of Antarctica. A woman mysteriously washes up on the island, where there is a man and his 3 children, battling the elements as the world begins to reclaim it with rising sea levels. But other secrets soon emerge…
Which books am I currently reading from the longlist?
- The Benefactors
- The Correspondent

Revealing the shortlist!

Books for my TBR
Besides the shortlist, there are still a couple of books for my TBR:
- The Best of Everything by Kit de Waal – I’ve that this book is ‘okay’, but it seems like something I could easily read, which I need in the midst of my recent reading slump!
- The Mercy Step – so glad this is on the shortlist!
Overall reaction
What a pleasant surprise! I doubt anyone saw Kingfisher making the shortlist – what an underdog!
It feels a bit more manageable to read the shortlist before the announcement in June.
Are any of the shortlisted books on your TBR?
