Last week, my boyfriend and I headed to Bertie Blossoms, a stone’s throw from Portobello Road. Notoriously known as musician Ed Sheeran’s restaurant, I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype I’d seen online, heard on podcasts and more.
Usually a fussy eater, I prefer sticking to chains I know have the same menu and are a decent price. However, on this occasion, we happened to be in London after work at the same time, which meant we could enjoy a (somewhat) date night.
I’d seen very few, mixed reviews online and was even more curious to see there was no menu, despite seeing one a couple of years ago. So much so, it was time to try it out.
Even though we booked in advance, it was very quiet, where I think there was only one other party, accompanied by their dogs (Basil and Poppy from what I could hear).

It’s only open from 5-11pm during the winter months, but opens 7 days a week in the Spring and Summer, even offering Roasts at the end of the week. We had an awesome Aussie waitress, who was very attentive, enthusiastic and even spoke to us about her native country, where we intend to go next year.
Anyhow, you’re here for the food.

I was so hangry by this point, I’d already munched down a packet of crisps and wanted to order so many things – not something I usually do anywhere. I was salivating at pretty much all of the choices!
Getting straight to it, here’s what I ordered:

Starters
Chorizo and red wine – rich and warming
Padron peppers – deliciously salty
Boyf – Honey mustard sausages – the right balance of pork and sweetness

Main
Charcuterie steak with chimichurri – medium, cooked to perfection
Boyf – Vodka pasta – probably its most well-known dish

Pudding
Apple and blackberry crumble with salted caramel ice cream – delightful, comforting and the right sharpness balanced with tartiness
Overall experience: 10/10
Honestly. I loved it and can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. My boyf and I might even go back for our birthdays! 🙂 Despite being in London and owned by a celebrity, I was pretty pleased with what we paid. Even though it was on the higher end of what we usually splurge, we got a lot of quality, well-portioned, delicious food.
If you get the chance to go, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Bring on Summer!
