Join my Substack – The Transparent Page by Lizzie B

One of my new year’s resolutions was to start a Substack, a newsletter subscription service. At the end of January, I finally got around to it and started The Transparent Page!

You may recall I used to blog about the countless books I would read each week, but they didn’t prove to be as popular despite poring for hours over each post. But still, I wanted an outlet to discuss writing. That’s where The Transparent Page comes in.

3 posts later, I like to think of it as a space where I share my experience as a writer (which I’ve learned to call myself and not be ashamed of) as I write my crime novel. I’ve already shelved 1 novel which I started a couple of years ago, including many word documents full of bullet points from before. But this one, this one feels different – all while battling even more book ideas that continue to write their own story in my head!

Like any journey, there are many unknowns ahead which I’m keen to share. The ups, downs, updates, feelings, honesty and rawness of it all that is what makes writing.

You may wonder why I decided to launch on (yet) another platform. I’m keen to separate my channels so as not to confuse my audience, as I know writing (the topic) doesn’t appeal to everyone who follows my blogs with a different incentive in mind. If that’s the case, I completely understand.

Before continuing, I want to take this opportunity to speak directly to you. Thank you. Thank you for all your support so far on my posts, just by reading it, giving it a like or leaving the occasional comment – it means more than you know.

One of the reasons I started my blog was because I love to write. For years I’ve wanted to create my own piece of the internet and express myself, whether that be about mental health, books, beauty and general lifestyle. Readers can gain so much from just a few words on a page, yet interpreted in a plethora of ways.

We are surrounded by finished products, but aren’t made truly aware of the hard work that goes into a novel.

That’s where I hope my Substack will provide such transparency. I can’t guarantee that my novel will get published, but I’m going to bloody well try my hardest to make that dream a reality!

Maybe there’s a little voice in your ear urging you to do that thing you’ve been meaning to do for years. You ignore it but it only continues to grow louderdon’t ignore it!

This process has brought me such joy, albeit frustration too, but is so rewarding. I’m 53,000 words in which is quite a thing to get my head around!

Maybe you’ve a keen interest in writing and want to join me on my journey. And you can – it’s completely free!

I look forward to you joining The Transparent Page as you follow me on my quest.

Welcome to the beginning of my fairytale.
