I love trying out new things that will give my hair some life and its own at-home spa treatment without the hefty price tag. I’ve used Revolution’s Bond Restore Treatment a couple of times now, so I feel it is worthy for me to give an honest review.
I’ve seen this compared to the Olaplex No3 Hair Perfector– ideal for an at home salon-worthy treatment, but not quite so for your purse, at £28 for a 100ml bottle!
Why try it?
When I had my botched-dyed hair fixed in a salon last year (lesson learned not to use dye kits in my teens), I opted to have Olaplex added in and was very pleased with the results, where it left my hair feeling restored, super healthy and luscious. I honestly felt like I’d left a photoshoot! However, what I didn’t like was the price tag and couldn’t justify getting a whole bottle for myself.
Fortunately, Revolution released a ‘similar’ treatment a few months later which I’ve been longing to try! After a few months, I finally indulged and got a 250ml bottle from Asos for £15. Superdrug also sell them, at £10 for a 100ml bottle – less than half of an Olaplex bottle, and they’re even on offer!
How does it work?
I won’t lie, I’m not a fan of having to apply these kinds of products to damp hair. After applying a generous amount, you have to sit for 10 to 15 minutes for it to work its magic. It smells heavenly, and I can read a book or do some work whilst waiting, before washing it off… oh my goodness. It’s like being a Disney Princess.
Is it worth it?
When I use my normal shampoo and conditioner after, my hair feels super dreamy afterwards, it’s super silky and makes me smell like a flower with legs. It says to use this 1-2 times a week, but I can go sooo much longer – it really does work. I’m not sure if it me convincing myself, but my hair feels so much cleaner for a couple of weeks after, stronger and with fewer split ends. The ombré ends of my hair still have a bit of life and shine which is hard to maintain and this product gives it that spice.
Despite the mini-splurge, I do not regret it and it has probably saved my hair at the right time!
I guess my only bug bear is waiting in the shower. But think of it as a sacrifice – as I get chilly, my hair becomes even more nourished and restored.
Hopefully this helps you decide if you are um-ing and ah-ing about whether to try it out.
