Hooves. Paws. Human toes. Just a few of the prints I spotted in the sand at Fraisthorpe Beach this afternoon.
Sometimes, no plans can turn out to be the best plans. I knew I wanted to go to the beach with my dog, but for how long and do what, I didn’t know.
Going down a small and windy road to Fraisthorpe parking, it takes you directly to the shore and the Cow Shed café (currently closed, but its takeaway Calf Shed is open!). It was busy: there were so many dogs running about and loving life; horses and families too.
You can even see Bridlington: it’s a long walk away, but can be done if you fancy. Just maybe not on a day as windy as today.

After a brief stroll down the beach, I settled down my picnic blanket towards the bank and out of the constant wind where I sat down with my dog. We relaxed in the sun; him sniffing his surroundings and me enjoying the emerging sun on my back and the feel of the pen in my hand as I fervently wrote down some ideas for my fantasy novel. Some major scenes are set on a beach, so it was the perfect setting to take inspiration – and pair it with some of my Bali memories!
The wind blew in our faces with the occasional blast of sand, but no bother. We both enjoyed some longed-for sun during this wet British summer we’ve been having. Honestly, I could have fallen asleep because I was that relaxed!
Regarding plans, I have, however, planned what to do with some days off this week: one of them being my birthday! Hopefully, I’ll be able to document them in the coming days.
xx
